White Gold-filled Star of David and Hoshen Pendant
by Israeli jewelry designer Marina
In Exodus 39:8-14, G-d instructed that the Hoshen stones were to be mounted on embroidered fine linen and worn by the High Priest of Israel. Today the Hoshen or Priestly Breastplate can be worn by anyone who wants to display these 12 stones representing the Tribes of Israel as a symbol of being one of G-d’s children and Him the head of this household of faith.
As King David himself wrote in the Book of Psalms, “But you, Lord, are a shield around me,” (3:3). It is apparent that King David’s security in battle did not come from his physical shield, but from G-d. In Hebrew the Star of David is called the Magen David or Shield of David. I can be surmised that the Shield of David is not a physical shield, but his true shield, his faith in G-d. The Star of David symbolizes eternal faith in G-d no matter what adversity life brings.
This Star of David Pendant is white gold-filled and features 12 colored stones set in the patter of the Priestly Breastplate in the center of the star.
